Monday, Monday

It's hard to believe that it's Monday again, and this time Harper is 7 weeks old! Time is flying by too fast! Accomplishments for the past week have been sleeping for 5 straight hours at night, kinda taking a paci, and drinking from a bottle. The extra sleep has been GREAT, and when I do feed her at night it is in bed, so it's so much easier for us both. No getting up and bright lights!

I didn't really plan on giving her a paci unless it seemed like she needed the extra comfort, but recently she's started sucking on her hand, like maybe she's trying to get that thumb in her mouth! I'd rather her take the paci since I can take it away! She's sucking on it pretty good, but I still have to hold it for her a little bit.

Harper had a couple of bottles early on, but we just started to try and give her one regularly last week.  She usually gets real fussy about it at first, but then I guess realizes how hungry she is an gives in, then she drinks it up in a flash!  I think we should have started giving it to her a week earlier, but I thought since she'd taken a few before that we'd be okay...oh well, we have a few weeks to get her going good on it. Ken can get her to take it good and she'll even take it from me sometimes. I just want it to be easy on the ladies at daycare. It's really one of the only times she cries right now.

She is growing and getting more interested in her surroundings. She is also holding her head up steady longer when I'm holding her. She's starting to do the mini-push-up on her tummy, but then again she has been able to lift her head up since she was born. Now she is less "bobble-heady". I just love her so much!

Let me see if I can find a picture....

Saturday Morning Playtime!

Harper loves her Baby Einstein play mat. I can't believe she doesn't get overwhelmed since it has 1 million dangly thingys!

Check out this cute onesie that Uncle Kev & Sara gave her!

Eric Clapton on Vinyl

Harper helps Daddy make a mixed CD...and catch some z's! I also should mention that the rocking chair was Harper's Great-Great Grandmother's, a very special piece for us to have.

Harper at 6 Weeks

Here's our sweet angel 6 weeks old! We had 2 wardrobe changes today!

These little booties crack me up because they rattle when she kicks. She doesn't get it yet, but it keeps Mommy entertained!

What a big girl!

Well, I wanted to post a picture but I'm having a bit of technical difficulty with my card reader. I couldn't wait to write about Harper's weigh-in today. The Breast Care Center has walk-ins on the 1st Tuesday & Thursday of the month, so I thought it would be a good time to take her. The big number: 11 pounds, 7 ounces! Nurse Mary said that was a very healthy weight for a 6 week old. I can't believe Harper is growing so fast!

Obviously she is eating good, now we are just working on getting her to take a bottle so Ken & daycare can feed her when I'm back at work. She's had a couple of bottles along the way, just nothing regular. She does NOT like it from me. I think it confuses her. Ken gets her to take it much better.

Other than the quick outing to be weighed, we have stayed indoors and listened to the rain today. Hope none of you are having trouble with flooding!

Just a swinging!

Happy New Year to all! We have started it off with some outings with our little Harper. New Year's Day she and I went to spend some time with Natalie and Anderson. Nat cooked a tasty lunch for us, and I got to play with a not so little Anderson that I have been missing! I can't believe how big he has gotten. It was so much fun to watch him crawl all over the place and pull up on anything and everything he ran into! We are so glad that they are in Tuscaloosa. It will be fun to mother them together!

Friday night we went to watch the Sugar Bowl at friends Stacy & Allison's house. It was the first time most of that group of friends got to meet Harper. Lauren and Paul's daughter, Joey, is the same age as Anderson, and she wanted to touch Harper's nose. She's a cutie who is also crawling all over the place. Shane and Mims daughter, Brantley, was also very interested in playing with Harper! She had her cheerleading uniform to root for Bama. It'll be a little more fun for them once Harper is big enough to play with them. We'll have a whole cheerleading squad at the tailgate real soon! Even though Bama didn't win, we had a fun visit.

Today we celebrated Gammy's 90th birthday with the whole Hamner family at Steamer's. A lot of the family that lives out of state came in for the celebration. It was great because I got to meet a lot of new faces! There was close to 50 of us! Again, all of the little girls wanted to check out Harper. She will have lots of cousins to play with when she's ready (and cute hand-me-downs too!) Ken and I are quickly learning that it's not so quick to leave the house with a newborn! Seems like there is always one last diaper change that is needed! She's done really good though, sleeping for most of the visits. While this is good for us, it's a little disappointing for those hoping to see her eyes! I'm sure they will be wide open more often very soon! We'll keep on celebrating with Gammy and the family tomorrow before everyone heads back home. Our camera battery was dead today, so we'll post some pictures tomorrow!

I also just found out some very exciting news: Katie & Vincent are engaged! They are on a ski trip in Colorado, due to return tomorrow. I haven't even spoken to her yet, just texted and checked out the news on her blog.  I am super thrilled for them!!!

Here's how Harper is handling the down time:

Just worn out!
