October is Fun!

We have had lots of fun in October and Halloween isn't even here yet!

Yes, we went to a pumpkin patch, but the pumpkins were too small, so we had to go a get a good "carver" tonight! Here's Harper posing on a pile!

She's still intrigued with the tiny ones. Wonder why...

Here she is in the little dress I made for her.

Sunny days are just made for pictures!

Happy girl with baby doll in tow...
Harper is such a joy! She is truly a blessing to our lives. Every day brings more memories and reminds me to not sweat the small stuff! It sounds like she is trying to say more words and she even tried to put a bib on her baby doll yesterday. Chance? No, I like to think brilliance! I can't believe she is already 11 months old. It's been an amazing whirlwind and I look forward to many more fun days to come! Stayed tuned for carved pumpkin pics!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

We took Harper for her first trip to the pumpkin patch, also known as the Critter Creek Farm. She got to see ponies, sheep, goats, a donkey, bears, a cougar, a fox & all kinds of foul! Natalie, Anderson and Brent also went, and Anderson loved all of the animals! It was freezing up on top of the "mountain", but we just bundled them up and went for it. The hayride and real pumpkin patch got rained out, so they made a little fake patch to pick from. Seeing as how neither Harper nor Anderson will even remember the trip, that was just fine with us! It was a fun time:)

Our little goat!

Baby calf and pigs really liked Harper!

With Daddy in their orange

Look at what a good pumpkin she picked-ha ha!

Can we get one of these big ones?!

My First Jeans

Fall is in the air and Harper gets to sport her first pair of jeans! Of course they look even cuter with an Alabama t-shirt!

Getting ready for Halloween!

I decided to put out a few Halloween decorations when we got back from the wedding weekend last Sunday. Harper was very interested in all of the colorful things lurking around.

Here with a muslin "mummy" strip tied around her head. Yes, that's a bloody nose. She woke up with it on Sunday morning. I think it was just her sinuses from the dry air hotel room. Ken's mom said he used to do the same thing...it was so grody!

We had to stop and tell the pumpkins and mummy hey before bathtime.

Harper is amazed with Shady's food bowl. Can't believe I'm posting this of my wreck of a laundry room. Oh well!

She's getting so big!!!

We are still here!

Wow! It's been too long since I've posted anything! Like any mother, I've been super busy working, traveling with work, and taking care of sweet Harper while trying to maintain some sense of order in the household & spend time with Ken.

What's been going on? Well, let's see...some of Katie's friends and I took her down to the beach for her Bachelorette Party a couple of weeks ago. It was a lot of fun & good to have a girls' getaway. I was in New York for a workshop the 24th & 25th, then Ken and I went to the Alabama vs. Arkansas game last weekend. I'm off to Chicago and North Carolina this week, then Katie's wedding is Saturday!!! Needless to say, BUSY!

Enough about me, you are all checking in to see what Harper is up to! She has been growing and changing everyday. It's so fun to see her little mind develop. She's babbling more and more-everything is dada. She's trying to say uh-oh and Shady. She has said mama like twice, but I can't seem to coax it out again!

We also took Harper to see an Opthamologist at UAB about her little crossed baby eye. He was pretty fantastic and explain to us that what she has is Strambismus, or Estropia. You will most likely get a better explanation if you google it, but it basically means that her eyes are not working together. Surgery is the most likely way to correct it, but we are using a patch first to see if that may help strengthen the less dominant eye first. We also have an appointment with an Optometrist to explore Vision Therapy. Ken and I just want to make sure that we explore all of the options and make the right decision to help Harper. Right now she has to wear the patch 6 days a week-blah! She is actually pretty good about it and rarely even tries to touch it.

Harper has been cutting her top two front teeth this past week. Man, they are big ones! She's been a little needier, wanting Mommy. All. The. Time. I'm not going to complain, because one day she may not want me to hold her as much.

Ken brought home a little V-tech walker thing from his parents, and she LOVES it! She has walked laps and laps around the house this weekend! If she's not using the walker, then she wants to hold on to your fingers and YOU walk her around and around. She has certain "landmarks" that she will stop and check out. One is the framed illustration of a boy eating an apple in our kitchen, and the other is Ken's Elvis clock-the hips/legs swing to the tick-tock.

Her other favorite thing lately is her baby doll. My Grandmother Hollis gave it to me for her at my baby shower & I have to admit that it's been in the box until last week. I guess I was thinking that I should save it or wait until she was bigger. Then one evening I decided to open it up and see what Harper would do with it. She went nuts over it! Loves it! Talks to it & kisses it! Crawls around holding it. It's so cute! She just seems so little to be doing all of these things, but then she is 10 months old now. Wild! Okay, check out these photos:

Call me Patch!

Smiley:)

Taking this baby everywhere with me!
